Tonight I strive towards the finish with my Elijah painting that depicts the peak showdown between Elijah (team Jehovah) and the prophets of Baal (team Jezebel). Here, God reigns fire down on the sacrifice that Elijah prepared- and gave himself a handicap: dousing the sacrifice, the altar and the trench all around with water –three times! And he then trolls his opponents by mocking them that their god was probably too busy going tinkle to show up for this showdown.
While this painting is a simple composition, the dynamic lighting between the dark night sky and the column of reigning fire from heaven are a warring duo of contrasts that leaves the viewer in wonder and awe. What would it have been like to be there?

Here's the less-than-3-minute video that shows how my oil painting, Left Unattended, progressed. You also get to see reference photos. This is the painting that won the Creative Arts Guild's Patron's Choice Award at their Arts Festival in 2024.
This is my short video of my progression of this Wall Garden watercolor. It was painted as an illustration for the husband's TTRPG. The finished work is on a 10" x 13" cold press 100% cotton watercolor paper using Kuretake watercolor paints. I started this in October 2024 and only just finished it recently.

I am deeply humbled and very happy to report that my Gypsy Beauty painting won Best In Show at the Harris Arts Center Regional Art Show! She will remain on display through July 19th. For those of you who have been following me on my art journey for any length of time these past two years, you've seen me attain a lot of "firsts" as an artist. Well, today's award is yet another first. It was only my second exhibition, but my first time winning. I am just so grateful and starting to feel accomplished as a #FineArtist. Thank you Harris Arts Center for the opportunity to participate and show my work. I look forward to doing so again next year!
